The Cape Story Civic Association presents the 7th Annual:

 “Cape Santa” in the Park!

When: Sunday December 9, 2012 

12:30 PM – Santa will be cruising the neighborhood in his golf cart. Come out and say hello!

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM – Santa in the Park

 Where: Cape Story by the Sea Neighborhood Park

 What: A visit from the Jolly Old Elf himself, Santa Claus, to deliver an early Christmas present to your child!

 Hamburgers and Hot Dogs will be provided by the Cape Story Civic Association!

 Participants:

• Bring a present ($10.00 or less please) for each participating child age 10 or under.
• Presents need to be wrapped and clearly labeled with your child’s full name.
• Presents may be brought to Santa’s designated collection place until December 7th.
• On the day of the event, please bring an new unwrapped gift for Toys for Tots, so your child can experience the joy of giving as well as receiving!
• We will also be collecting food for our adopted Holiday families.

2214 Oak Street: Mondays and Thursday 7:30 AM – 11:00 AM; 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM  Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM.

COX BOOK SALE – The Cox PTSA Annual Book Sale is fast approaching.  The general public can shop for books, cds, dvds, and gift baskets from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16 and from 8:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov 17.  Most books are 50 cents and $1.00. Get GREAT deals on a HUGE selection of books for all ages, and help support the PTSA!

When:      Saturday November 24, from 10:00 to 4:00
Where:     Along the path, in the park, and in random yards around the neighborhood
Who:        Anyone interested in shopping or participating
What:        Rumor has it that someone has been baking and freezing her fabulous cookies, and maybe someone could do a lemonade or cider stand?  That there might be a newly published book out?  That there will be fabulous knitted and crocheted gift items, some local photography and greeting cards, duct tape creations, and other undisclosed items of beauty and interest, hand crafted and created by your neighbors.

If you are interested in setting up a table or having a yard sale, let us know so we can send out an update closer to the 24th and also coordinate with you if  you would like to set up in the park.  There are some tables available if you need one.

No Waste/Recycling Collection on Wednesday, July 4

There will be no waste/recycling collection on Independence Day, Wednesday, July 4.

Regularly scheduled waste and recycling services will instead be provided on Saturday, July 7.

Please have cans at the curb no later than 7 a.m.

Cape Story’s 49^th Annual 4th of July Parade/Brunch & Fireworks!!!

Wednesday July 4^th

Parade 10am – Noon @ Cape Story Neighborhood & Park

Fireworks – 9:20pm @ Cape Story Beach

(Rain Date for Fireworks is Thursday July 5^th)

 PARADE THEME – Red, White and Scary

 This year’s parade and brunch will take place from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm (noon) on Wednesday July 4th.  The parade route will start on Beech at the bike path, proceed down Beech to Poinciana, follow Poinciana to Bayberry, turn left on Bayberry and end in the neighborhood park. All bike riders, floats and marchers need to line up for the parade between 9:30am – 9:45am.  Please be careful spilling out onto Shore Drive.  If you have to, line your float up in Food Lion’s parking lot and we will work you into the parade as it starts moving.

This year’s strange parade theme, “Red, White and Scary” received the most votes at the Spring Fling.  We know how much Cape Story loves Halloween, so this may be a summer tribute of some type.  Trophies will be given for Most Original, Most Patriotic and Best Theme.  The parade will be followed by a brunch in the park. There will also be biscuits, doughnuts, fruit and patriotic tunes. 

As she has done in years past, an ice cream truck will also be provided courtesy of LYNN HUME, RE/MAX Allegiance.

The annual fireworks show will once again be presented by Zambelli Fireworks Internationale. The display will consist of 700 shells and will be launched around 9:20 pm on Wednesday July 4th from the beach at First Landing State park. The rain date will be Thursday July 5th at the same time.  If it looks like rain, please check your emails and www.capestory.org for updates.  Please remember – Storage, handling and use of fireworks without a permit from the Fire Marshal’s Office is a violation of City ordinance 12-43.2 and is a Class 1 Misdemeanor. Class 1 Misdemeanors are punishable by up to a $2500 fine and/or 12 months in jail.  

Volunteers are always needed for all of the 4th of July events.

• Brunch set-up, Brunch Clean-up, Brunch servers – Please Arrive at the park at 9:30am to help.

• Fireworks set-up and clean-up – Trucks and movers are asked to arrive at First Landing at 1:00pm. 

 ***A special plea is being made for 4WD trucks and movers to help with the fireworks.  Last year we didn’t have enough and set up was very difficult.  It is only about an hour worth of time, so please help.  Please contact Todd Solomon at 667-8533 or todd@sdcc.info ***

Sorry everyone, but today’s scheduled Spring Fling has been postponed due to bad weather.  The new date will be next Sunday on May 27th.  We hope the weather will cooperate then.

Food & Fun for All – Come enjoy free hot dogs, hamburgers, lemonade and water all provided by the Cape Story by the Sea Civic Association.  Snow cones and popcorn will be graciously provided by LYNN HUME, RE/MAX Allegiance.  Astro DJs and Bobby the Clown, Inc. will be providing the entertainment.  There will be a moonwalk, face painting, balloon animals and plenty of games for the children and adults.  There will be a hula-hoop contest, sack races, basketball shooting contest, water balloon toss and more. Prizes will be awarded to the winners.  Fun for all ages! 

 Remember to bring: a side dish (salads, fruit, deserts, etc.) to share, lawn chairs and sodas. 

 Volunteers and Coordinators are needed to help out with this year’s event. If you’re interested in cooking, helping out with the games or decorating the park, please call email the event committee chairman, Todd Solomon at todd@sdcc.info
