Tuesday, January 12th – The Special Election for the 8th State Senate District will take place

o   Polling Hours – 6 am to 7 pm on Tuesday, January 12th

o   Polling Locations – All 35 normal polling locations will be open throughout the district and staffed by City of Virginia Beach election workers.

o   Voting Methods – Voters can vote on Election Day on electronic machines or may vote by Absentee Ballot.

VI.        Unfinished Business

Sand Replenishment on the Bay–  Jim Wood,  Phillip Roerhs and David Hansen have provided us with information noted.   Current information indicates  The remainder of the beach from East of the fishing pier to Kendall Street in Cape Story will be replenished using sand dredged from Long creek, dumped onto the spoils site at Marina Shores (end of Maple Street) dredging noted  currently in progress, and sand will be trucked onto Cape Story by the Oak Street Access.

Membership for 2010 – WINTER NEWSLETTER has membership application for 2010—JOIN NOW for $10 for whole family –MEMBERSHIP is open to ALL (Owners and Renters) persons living in Cape Story. Please provide READABLE email to be added to or to remain on the CSBTS Email List.  Chance for $100 drawing with each membership application.

Nor’easter– SDCC and civic associations are working with City Storm water engineer, Mike Mundy to gather data from the storm in order to identity areas for improvement (back flow of water through storm drains and flood on streets and park noted).  Please contact Mike Mundy at MMundy@vbgov.com with Your stories and pictures.

Wachovia Bank on Shore Drive is robbed; man sought

       Police are looking for a man who robbed the Wachovia Bank at 2821 Shore Drive this morning.

      The robbery occurred at 9:22 a.m. and the man ran away toward some nearby apartments afterward, said Virginia Beach Police Lt. Max Hayden.

      The man is described as white, 20 to 30, and 5 feet 8 to 9 inches tall, Hayden said. He weighs 170 to 180 pounds and was wearing a gray shirt with long sleeves, khaki pants, a black ski mask and blue rubber gloves.

     The man carried a black semi-automatic handgun, Hayden said.
