Fireworks on the Bay Postponed – New date and time July 5th @ 9:20pm

Sorry everyone, but the weather has caused us to postpone tonight’s Fireworks.  The storm with multiple lightning is too big and it’s timing doesn’t appear to allow a window for set up and shooting tonight.

The rain date for the show is tomorrow July 5th at 9:20pm.

In the event that it is still raining tomorrow, the show will have to be cancelled.  So check out the website for future updates.  And pray for no rain tomorrow.

Thank you for understanding.

All bike riders, floats and marchers need to line up for the parade between 9:30am – 9:45am.  Please be careful spilling out onto Shore Drive.  If you have to, line your float up in Bloom’s parking lot and we will work you into the parade as it starts moving.

This year’s parade theme, “Out of this world” received the most votes at the Spring Fling.  Awards will be given for Most Original, Most Patriotic and Best Theme.  The parade will be followed by a brunch in the park. There will also be biscuits, doughnuts, fruit and patriotic tunes.

As she has done in years past, an ice cream truck will also be provided courtesy of LYNN HUME, RE/MAX Allegiance.

The annual fireworks show will once again be presented by Zambelli Fireworks Internationale. The display will consist of 700 shells and will be launched around 9:20 pm on Monday July 4th from the beach at First Landing State park. The rain date will be Tuesday July 5th at the same time.  Please remember – Storage, handling and use of fireworks without a permit from the Fire Marshal’s Office is a violation of City ordinance 12-43.2 and is a Class 1 Misdemeanor. Brush Fire Along Long Creek – Saturday February 19th

Strong winds, dry conditions and fire resulted in a scary situation for Cape Story and Long Creek Cove residents on Saturday.  Luckily, the wind was blowing in a favorable direction to keep the fire from spreading to Cape Story and Long Creek Cove homes as well as the boats at Marina Shores.  The residents are also thankful that Virginia Beach’s finest firefighters were able to put the fire out in a short period of time without incident.

Cape Story Resident Attacked On Bike Path – 1/21/11

The following notice was received from the Cape Story by the Sea Neighborhood Watch coordinator:

On Friday night, 1/21, at approximately 12:30 a.m., a resident was walking home on the bike path behind Bloom when he was attacked by 2 males, one black and one white, probably in their early to mid 20’s. They tried to get his wallet but the resident was able to throw a few punches of his own and got away from them.  One of the attackers was somewhat injured (by the victim) and the other ran away.   This is the second incident of this kind in the past few months.  Warning:  please be aware and do not walk alone on the bike path at night.

Please remember to call 911 if you see a crime in action and call 385-5000, option 1, to report crimes after they have occurred or to report any suspicious activity.
