 V.     New Business     

• Shore Drive Safety Initiative –   City Council  agreed to reduce Speed to 35 mph on Shore Drive  on  June 15^th to Pleasure House Road on trial basis, survey to be done,  Shore Drive Safety Event scheduled for  June 24^th at Kokamos    (first event was at Shuckers on June 3^rd).   http://www.vbgov.com/file_source/dept/webteam/Document/shore_drive_safety_task_force_report_to_SDAC.pdf  
• JULY 4^th EVENTS– Sunday July  4^th – Parade- 10AM  Patriotic Pets & People theme – MAYOR SESSOMS with be our Parade Marshall – gather at Beech Street 9:30 -9:45 AM –Brunch in the Park with patriotic Music.  Fireworks on the Bay at 9:20PM , rain date July5th, VOLUNTEERS NEEDED  call Todd 667-8533, todd@sdcc.info.  See SkipJack or www.capestory.org for more information.
• VBCCO-:  June 9, 2010 –  7PM at the  Meyera Obendorf Central  library- bicycle safety and bike paths.

• The Sandalwood Walkover– work started plan ADA-American Disabilities Act- requirements to be met and plan to be finished by Memorial Day.            The Va. Pilot reported Fishing Pier to be rebuilt also

• VBgov web site survey request- citizens survey requested by City to improve Web site, online at www.VBgov.com/surveys  – click on “Redesign VBgov.com” – available until May 16, 2010
• Shore Drive Safety Initiative – subcommittee meetings in May-David Williams, Shore Drive Safety Initiative 2010 Chairman    CSBTS and CHS were the two primary civic associations behind the 35 mph on our section of Shore Drive.   Attached is a link for the Shore Drive Advisory Committee 2006 Safety Task Force Recommendations to provide background information and basis for future SDSI initiatives.   http://www.vbgov.com/file_source/dept/webteam/Document/shore_drive_safety_task_force_report_to_SDAC.pdf

• Storm Water and Flood Damage follow up –must report concerns and problems to Public Works 385-1470    Nor’easter– SDCC and civic associations are working with City Storm water engineer, Mike Mundy to gather data from the storm in order to identity areas for improvement (back flow of water through storm drains and flood on streets and park noted).  Please contact Mike Mundy at MMundy@vbgov.com with Your stories and pictures.                        
• Sand Replenishment on the Bay–   weekly updates received by CSBTS-

Jim Wood,  Phillip Roerhs and David Hansen have provided us with information noted.  Mr. Lankford indicated on the March 1 weekly report that the sand haul over Oak Street will be completed at end of the week (March 6/7) and the restoration of the Oak Street vehicular beach access will commence immediately following the truck haul.   No citizen concerns were received the previous week.   A topographic survey of the beach has been scheduled to commence after the truck haul to document the “after placement” condition.
