Just a Reminder that the April 14th  Monday monthly meeting will have a Special Guest Speaker  on Virginia Beach Emergency Medical Services with Automated External Defibrillator (AED) demonstration.  Meetings  at at 7:30PM at the Virginia Beach Resort Hotel 2nd floor. Read the sign at the stairs to see which meeting room

Found a female mixed breed (Dolmanation and ?) dog.  Brownish face. Big Bark.  Sorta friendly but scared.   Found on Sandalwood Drive. About 10.30 = 11 AM 4-2-08
 
Now in fenced yard. Red harness & collar. No tags.

Neighborhood Institute Course Now Open for Registration

The Department of Housing and Neighborhood Preservation is once again inviting citizens to enroll in the next session of the City’s Neighborhood Institute.

This 11-week course provides residents and community leaders an opportunity to learn from City officials, network with other residents and leaders, and gain skills in community leadership.

 

The course is entitled “Neighborhood Leadership and Development,and involves presentations by City leaders, tours of the city and its neighborhoods, and a simulated City Council session in order to provide a wide range of both hands-on and classroom learning opportunities.

 

Classes will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m., from April 3 through June 12, including one Monday in City Council Chambers and three Saturday tours. Thursday night classes are held at the Advanced Technology Center. The Neighborhood Institute has been offered for more than a decade and over 300 people have graduated, including current City Councilmember Bob Dyer. Past participants have said that it provided invaluable information about city services and government that they can use to help their civic leagues and other community groups.

March 10th 2008 Cape Story by the Sea Meeting Notes  

The CSBTS civic association meeting was called to order at 7:35pm at the Resort Hotel by President Empsy Munden.

  SPECIAL GUEST Speaker for APRIL 14th meeting Scheduled to start at 7:30pm.  Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Citizens Emergency Response Training (CERT) with Automated External Defibrillator (AED) demonstration.  Students welcome and families . 

  • 2008 Membership Drive.  Discussion on Special Membership Privileges (discounts at local business, membership cards).  Ryan Murphy to follow up on possible options for membership privileges, volunteers welcome.

  • Sail Boats on the DuneRick Boesch presented proposal for designated area for sailboats/kayaks (similar to a plan used it Jupiter Island Fla.).  Abandoned Boats and Junk/Trash thrown in the sand dunes part of the issues discussed possibility of using Clean the Bay Day June 7th as an opportunity to clear the dunes.   (Jeff, Rick, Brian)  MORE Discussion to follow.

Parcels of land adjacent to Long Creek from Marina shores to Wake Forest appear to be owned by Mrs. Levine.   Mr. Nutter postponed presentation to SDCC until SPRING 2008

Caution: Woman on 3 wheel bike intrusive re: pets

CSBTS report of woman on 3 wheel bike attempting to pick up their dog:
Thurs – Feb 7th. A [woman] tried to take my 12 year old shitzu from my front yard.
She claimed our dog was uncared for because he had a runny nose and in her words had an “upper respiratory infection”. My dog could not be more cared for an is obviously a well loved house pet. Continue reading

Virginia’s presidential primary is three weeks away, but the deadline to register to vote in the election is Monday, January 14, 2008.  If you’re already registered, no further steps are needed before the Feb. 12 primary. If you are not registered or aren’t sure, contact your city or county registrar.
